Hartman Seatrade’s Western Rock has successfully completed an extensive yard period at VEKA Group Shipyard Lemmer, featuring a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing the vessel’s RoRo capabilities.
A key part of the project was the installation of a new foldable RoRo ramp, designed by Hartman Seatrade’s in house engineering team. The ramp was manufactured and installed by VCU, the Maritime Specialist, while Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek carried out the electrical works and Couperus Hydrauliek BV was responsible for the hydraulic systems.
The new ramp measures 11.1 metres by 8 metres and is structurally rated for 400 tonnes. Through multi axle load distribution, the system enables the transportation of RoRo cargoes of approximately 600 tonnes, significantly increasing the vessel’s operational flexibility.
In addition to the ramp installation, the Western Rock was lengthened by 9.5 metres through the addition of hull extensions, also referred to as wings. These modifications were engineered by DEKC Maritime and fabricated and installed by VCU TCD.
All works on the vessel were successfully completed within an impressive 17 day timeframe.
Hartman Seatrade would like to thank all employees, partners and suppliers involved for their commitment, cooperation and successful delivery of this project.
